Dr. Ferhat Talhat Khan

Lecturer, Pharmacologist & Essential Public Health Medicines Expert

Ferhat Khan is an academic and currently lectures at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Board Member and Senior Fellow of the West African Institute of Public Health and a strategic advisor with interest in promoting the scale up of lifesaving essential medicines for women and children in the RMNCAH+ Nutrition continuum in the West Africa region. She has held top management positions in her field and practices as a consultant looking at cost-effective and high-impact drugs and vaccines for communicable and non-communicable diseases, as she seeks to contribute to the health system by expanded access to such medicines. In the course of her professional career, she has consulted for USAID, WHO and other key development partners and governments.

She is vast in her field and has published several articles in peer review journals and presented at international academic for a, especially in on the role of herbals in cancer prevention and treatment, such as Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-India. She is a member of the West Africa CSO Epidemic Response Mechanism (WACERM) and the International Public Health Forum (IPHF).

She holds both B.Sc and MSc in Pharmacology, Postgraduate Diploma in Management. She is a doctoral candidate in Pharmacology in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

She is also a Senior Fellow of the Academy of Public Health of the West African Institute of Public Health (FAPH) and member of the United Nations Professional Support Group for Africa.
